All is Full of Love

All is Full of Love" is one of my favorite songs by Bjork - and one of my greatest musical preferences of all time. It's been playing over and over in my head here of late. Of course, when any song repeats itself in "ear worm" fashion, there is a reason for it. Here are the lyrics (definitely check out the song itself):
You'll be given love You'll be taken care of You'll be given love You have to trust it Maybe not from the sources You have poured yours Maybe not from the directions You are staring at Twist your head around It's all around you All is full of love All around you All is full of love You just ain't receiving All is full of love Your phone is off the hook All is full of love Your doors are all shut All is full of love!
It reminded me of a time when I sat to breakfast with my oldest daughter, Mary, and asked her what she thought God was. No prompting or previous Q&As on the topic, she responded in her little 7 year-old voice, "God is love." Curious, I asked what she meant by that. She stated nonchalantly and with such conviction, "God is in everything. He's in you; he's in me. He's in the trees outside and the birds." Tears welled up in my eyes (which happens a lot because I'm a big ol' softie) and I realized in this little child's voice how we are all born with this understanding, and then we "lose" it. It's seemingly part of life's path - to be influenced and told "otherwise." But, did we ever really lose the understanding of what is real, where we came from? Really?
Since that day, I have made it an effort to find the beauty of God, the Divine, the Powers that Be - whatever you name "it" - on a daily basis. I marvel at the rays of sun bursting down to the earth through an opening in the clouds, a magnificent pink, purple and orange sunset, morning dew sparkling in the sunlight, and the brilliance of the fall leaves against a cloudless blue sky. How often do we stop to really take a look at the beauty that surrounds us? I don't know about you, but I'd much rather focus on that than all the other garbage that we are involuntarily exposed to. I choose "love." How about you?
